Soo apparently there is a new Britney Spears movie that is happening on the TV network Lifetime….

Natasha Bassett will star in the female-skewing cable network’s ‘Britney Jean’ biopic.
Lifetime is jumping on the Britney Spears bandwagon.

Days ahead of the pop star’s latest record release, the female-skewing cable network has set a TV movie biopic focused on the singer, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Natasha Bassett (Hail, Cesar)will star as Spears in Britney, which will detail what Lifetime described as the “tumultuous true story” of her rise to fame, fall from grace and triumphant resurrection.

The two-hour movie will follow Spears’ early career as a young girl from Louisiana, relationship and breakup with Justin Timberlake as well as her personal struggles following her parents’ divorce. Also set to be examined are her marriages to Jason Alexander, Kevin Federline and her downfall that saw her lose custody of her sons before she rebuilt her career and proved herself to be a force in entertainment.

The movie will be produced by Asylum Entertainment (The Kennedys, Ring of Fire). Anne-Marie Hess will pen the script with Leslie Libman (Manson’s Lost Girls) directing. Exec producers include Steve Michaels, Jonathan Koch and Joan Harrison. Production will begin Sept. 19 in Vancouver for a 2017 premiere.

The news comes as Spears is set to release Glory, her ninth studio album, on Friday and appear on CBS’ Late Late Show for a “Carpool Karaoke” segment with host James Cordon on Thursday. She will also perform on the MTV VMAs on Sunday. She recently extended her Las Vegas residency, keeping her at Planet Hollywood through February 2017.

For Lifetime, meanwhile, Britney becomes the cabler’s latest high-profile TV movie. That roster includes the recently announced Robert Durst pic; Who Killed JonBenet; Beaches reboot and more.

Asylum’s credits include Lifetime’s June Carter Cash TV movie Ring of Fire as well as Manson’s Lost Girls as well as The Kennedys mini.

Bassett, whose credits include NBC’s Camp andRake, is repped by Gersh, 3 Arts and Stone Genow.

Actor Colton Haynes (ARROW) visited Britney Spears backstage at BRITNEY: PIECE OF ME at Axis at Planet Hollywood. During her concert, she dragged him onstage to be the victim during “Freakshow.” Britney is here through Sept. 10 and returns Oct. 21. First, though, she opens Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Britney Spears spoke with “The Sun” all about her Hawaiian trip, how she almost DROWNED in Hawaii, Superbowl and Justin Bieber. Check out the interview below:

The superstar was on holiday in Hawaii when she got dragged under water by “six-foot waves” which had her frantically fighting for life.

She said: “I went out and I thought it was like a wave pool, and I was like, ‘This is so nice and refreshing and just ­beautiful.’

“But the thing I didn’t think about is when you come back, the waves really come in hard.

“I got sucked under for like five minutes. I almost drowned. And I’m like, ‘Where is my security? They’re just going to let me die here’.

“And then I came in again and another wave took me under.”

With her long-awaited ninth album Glory released this ­Friday, Britney said the one bit of advice she would give her younger self would be to avoid both her 55-hour first marriage to childhood friend Jason ­Alexander and her three-year romance with second husband KEVIN FEDERLINE.

She said: “Never get married, number one. That’s probably the best advice I could give myself.”

Britney is one of the biggest-selling artists of all time. Glory is 12 tracks long and features her amazing new ­single, Make Me . . .  featuring rapper G-EAZY.

But don’t expect any other collaborations, as she claims most other singers’ egos make it too difficult to work together.

In an interview with SCOTT MILLS — which you can hear on his Radio 1 show from 1pm to 4pm today — she said: “A lot of the people in the entertainment business, if you try to work with them or set up projects, a lot of times people just don’t show up.

“A lot of people are divas in this industry. It’s hard.”

But one person she does respect is JUSTIN BIEBER — even though she had no idea who he was when they were introduced six years ago when he was a teenager.

She said: “He walked into my hotel room and he was like a kid. Literally he looked like he was 13 years old but he was 16.

“And I was like, ‘Who is this kid in my hotel?’

“And my sister was like, ‘This is Justin Bieber and his mother’. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, I cannot believe this’. He’s very unassuming. He’s a very, very nice, kind boy.”

Britney is now the bookies’ favourite to headline the 2017 Super Bowl half-time show, after I revealed that ADELE had turned it down.

She said: “Yes. I would ­probably do that. I would have to have a little support group, another artist of course. I don’t think you would ever do the Super Bowl alone. That would be kind of scary.”

If she does it, it will be an incredible way to celebrate her illustrious career on the 20th anniversary of her album deal with Jive Records in 1997.

Britney is the ultimate pop star and after almost three years of her Las Vegas ­residency, she would be bound to put on a show that no one could forget.

Ok Britney almost drowned in Hawaii??!
